Early Russian

Early Russian, 1054 AD - 1246 AD (III/78)

Make the grading of German knights consistent with other lists.

Proposer: Larry Dunn

Proposal:

Add:

{Only after 1105 AD:

Upgrade German Kn to Reg Kn (I) @ 10AP Any}

Only after 1235 AD:

Change German Kn to double based Reg Kn (I) @ 10AP if front element,

8AP if rear element All

Add to notes:

Before 1150, any German Kn can always dismount as Bd(O).

Justification:

This is a technical revision for consistency’s sake, and is not meant to endorse the notion that 13th century German knights, other than Teutonic Knights, fought in DBE-style wedges. The bracketed revision dated after 1106 is provisional, and assumes that mercenaries available in the Medieval German list would be amongst those German cavalry serving the Russians. This revision would need to be revisited should the convention for Grading of German knights be revised, as hopefully it will be.
