Ilkhanid

List IV/46, Ilkhanid - Kurdish foot

Author: Duncan Head

Synopsis: Replace Kurdish javelinmen with foot-archers

Proposal: Replace –

Kurdish javelinmen – Irr Ax (O) @ 3 AP 0-4

with -

Kurdish foot-archers – Irr Bw (I) @ 3 AP 0-4

Justification:

The "History of Rabban Sawma..." mentions Kurds shooting arrows when

ambushing a traveller (p.56). One amir had 800 Kurdish foot-soldiers

(p.76). Though the weapons of those men are not mentioned, it seems

likely that the arrows were shot by footmen, and therefore that most

Kurdish infantry were archers, as earlier.
